Robotics Sponsors

The Boeing Company has been a major supporter of the ISTA/MESA Programs at MAHS for 12 years, by providing mentors, tutors and financial support. Boeing provides support for such activities as The JPL Invention Challenge and other activities hosted at Manual Arts. Two of our Boeing mentors, Mina Martinez and Art Rosales are also HENAAC Award recipients.

Raytheon has been a major supporter of the ISTA/MESA Programs at MAHS for 11 years, by providing mentors, tutors and financial support. Raytheon provides support for such activities as The JPL Invention Challenge, JETS/TEAMS competition,technical support for our robot, tutoring and other activities hosted at Manual Arts. Two of our Raytheon mentors, Todd Moore and Jack Otero are also HENAAC Award recipients.

This is our second year working PTC. We are extremely grateful for the financial support provided by them this year to help us build our robot. PTC also donated the use of their cad modeling software. The PTC software is used by most major engineering companies and can be used in numerous applications.

Lockheed Martin has supported the students of the ISTA/MESA programs for the last 12 years. They have sponsored such activities as the JPL Invention Challenge and provided mentors, tutors and speakers. With the help of Lockheed Martin the L.A. regional will have a digital version of the FRC available for sudents to try. One of our Mentors, Manny Sanchez is both a HENAAC and MAES award recipient.

Northrop Grumman has provided mentors, tutors and role models to Manual Arts High Schhol. They are extremely active in the JPL Invention Challenge Regional held at Manual Arts High School every Fall. The Northrop Grumman Family has a suit drive every year to provide suits and business clothing for the students of the ISTA program, With the leadership of Frank Flores, Vice President and HENAAC Award recipient, ISTA/MESA students have had the opportunity to see and experience things most high school students only see in pictures and on film.

Amgen is an international biotechnology company.This is Amgen's first year sponsoring our team and we are very grateful.

This is Google's second year sponsoring our team.

Robotics Supporters

Great Mind in STEM aka "HENAAC" have been instrumental in providing expertise in the area of STEM education to the students and teachers of the Imaging, Sciences and Technology Academy at Manual Arts High School. Through the support of Great Minds in STEM, the ISTA/MESA programs of Manual Arts High School were recognized by the White Housein 2008 as a model STEM based Academic Program. Great Minds in STEM was instrumental in ISTA becoming an academy. They have been a supporter of ISTA since 1996. The Robo-Skunks would like to thank Ray Mellado and all of his staff for helping make ISTA a model of what is possible when academia and industry work together for the betterment of a community.

With the support of Captain Macri and Lt. Commander Sam Delgado, Manual Arts High School is the first high school west of the Mississippi River to have an S2M2 Medical program. The program brings Naval medical personnel on campus and provides hands on experiences in medicine. At present there are 30 students in the S2M2 program. The Navy is also involved in other activities such as Navy College day and the JPL Invention Challenge. The Robo-Skunks are also grateful for the mentorship and support provided by HENAAC Award recipient, Captain Kathleen Contras and MAES Award recipient, Lt. Commander Mark Venzor.

The students on the robotics team are all members of MESA. The MESA program at Manual Arts High School is part of the Viterbi School of Engineering. Any Manual Arts Student who is a member of MESA since the 9th grade and applies to USC, and is admitted, is eligible for a full scholarship. Manual Arts was one of four pilot schools over 30 years ago when MESA was first introduced to Los Angeles. The Robo-Skunks would like to thank Larry Lim and Ben Louie for all of their hard work to make the Manual Arts MESA program one of the most active programs in Southern California.

When Team 2576 lost thier sponsor, the Robo-Skunks looked everywhere to help them find someone who could help. The Robo-Skunks are truly grateful for all of the support provided by the BAE Systems family for our Chilean friends.

The Robo-Skunks are grateful for the assistance provided by the Office of Naval Research in Santiago, Chile.
